User security affects how a user views and interacts with the CMS. Security is differentiated into Groups, Roles and Privileges. A Group can contain several Roles and a Role can contain several Privileges. A Group has default roles and privileges that are inherited by its members.
To access User Security, click the User Security icon on the home tab of the CMS.
TIP: If the icon is not visible, your user login does not have security access. You will need to log in as a different user (ie. admin) to access the security settings.
The Security Maintenance page opens.
You can now view and amend Users, Privilege, Role and Group. When a user is granted a group/role/privilege, the setting is bolded.
Clicking on Users takes you to the Select User page where you can search for users and create new users.
Clicking on Privilege outlines the current privileges and their descriptions. You can create a new privilege from here.
Clicking on Role lists the roles and their descriptions. You can create a new role from here.
Clicking on Group lists the groups and their descriptions. You can create a new group from here.
Individual privileges can be assigned to users. Clicking on the privilege name shows the Roles that include that privilege and also all of the users that have the privilege granted.
