Add a Resource

Before using a resource in the Site Tree, you usually upload it to the Resource Library. If you have a large number of resources to add, you can use the Quick Add feature. You may need to resize a resource (ie. an image) before uploading it.

TIP: Instead of adding a resource to the Resource Library and then linking to it from content in the site tree, some templates allow you to upload directly from your computer. For example Library Image, Gallery Photo, File and Flash Video.

To add a resource:

  1. Select the Resource Library tab.
  2. Click the New icon (New) and select Create Article from the list of options. The New Article window opens with the General tab in view.
  3. Add a Title for the resource.
  4. Select an appropriate template.
  5. Choose Save & Approve (Save&Approve) to save the resource.

To add a resource using Quick Add:

  1. Select the Resource Library tab.
  2. Click the New icon (New) and select the Quick Add icon (Quick Add). The Cougar Content - Quick Add page displays.
    Quick Add
  3. Click the Browse button to choose the file/s you want to upload from your computer. The file types that are supported by the CMS are listed in the window (eg. .zip, .jpg, .png, .gif, .PDF, .odt, .doc etc).
  4. Select the Skip workflow option to bypass workflow processes.
  5. Click the Add Content button to upload the file/s.

TIP: A zip file will be automatically unzipped and its individual files will be added to the Resource Library.

Organising Resources

The Resource Library can be organised using Resource Category articles. You will easily find your resources when they are arranged into categories.

  1. Select the Resource Library tab.
  2. Click the New icon (New) and select Create Article from the list of options. The New Article window opens with the General tab in view.
  3. Add a Title for the resource category.
  4. Select the Resource Category template.
  5. Click the Save & Approve (Save & approved) icon.
  6. Move your resources into the new resource category article using Actions or by changing the Category of the resource articles.
